Any Questions? Come see me at ScienceOnline Leiden's 2nd Unconference on May 22nd.

This coming May 22 the 2nd SCIO Leiden Unconference will take place and yours truly will be one of the people presenting a Q&A session.

Last year the Leiden chapter of ScienceOnline was founded and since then there have been a number of interesting events. This coming May 22 the 2nd SCIO Leiden Unconference will take place and yours truly will be one of the people presenting a Q&A session. I'll be giving a short introduction to Altmetrics and answering any questions you might have. The evening will be in Dutch, but if you understand Dutch well, that shouldn't be a problem and I expect most people will be happy to answer questions in English, I know I certainly will be.

Here's the translated elevator pitch for my Q&A:

How do you know how large your research's impact is? Where and how is your work talked about? In our often online-based world the old, familiar Impact Factor and h-Index don't really suffice any longer. To supplement these trusted measuring tools scientists developed altmetrics. But what exactly are these and what is their use? I'll introduce you to the phenomenon of altmetrics and answer your questions. And I'm very interested in your own experiences with altmetrics!

You can find further information on the 2nd Unconference at the ScienceOnline Leiden website. I hope to see you there on the 22nd!
