Until July 29 2016, so roughly for the next fortnight, University Libraries Leiden are offering trial access to InCites, a research analytics platform created by Thompson Reuters. You're probably already familiar with their Journal Citation Reports, which are published each year and are the source of the well-known Journal Impact Factor.

With InCites you can take a look at a broader scope of impact. You can explore performance on several levels: individual, journal, organizational, regional, funder, and research area. Data can be filtered by options such as time period, collaborations, and document or publication type. You can create your own reports, tiles, and dashboards, which can then be saved or shared with others. If those you share your tiles with have access to InCites as well, they can even look at the underlying data.

InCites can be mined for a lot of information, such as the best performing journals in your field, which researchers might be valuable collaborators, or which funders you could approach for a research grant. InCites not only provides h-indexes, journal impact factors, and citation counts, but also citation impact and normalised citation impact numbers for both research areas and journals.

To learn more about InCites, you can view the Quick Tour below. Please visit our website for more information on the trial. To try out InCites for yourself, you can open the database via our Catalogue.
